There are four evangelical stories (the word “Evangelium” means “good news”). In English, the evangelical stories are called gospels.
It was written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and are four independent historical stories about Jesus’ life and work. The first three are sometimes called synoptic (which means “with the same vision”) because they, contrary to the Gospel of John, describe Jesus’ service from the same point of view. The Gospel of John come with complementary details that the three others have not included.
